Insiders disclosed that the national squad would journey from Dubai to Hyderabad, India.
LAHORE: With the mega event in India just days away, sources have indicated that the Pakistani cricket squad is expected to receive visas for their journey to the neighboring country for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023.
Having not received their visas earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had notified the International Cricket Council, which subsequently instructed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to expedite the process.
Sources mentioned that the Indian embassy in Pakistan is poised to obtain a non-objection certificate from its home ministry later today, after which visa issuance will promptly follow.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Pakistan is the only team among the nine participating nations that has yet to receive their visas.
Insiders have disclosed that the national squad will make their way from Dubai to Hyderabad, India. They are scheduled to play a warm-up match against New Zealand on September 29.
Travel arrangements between the two countries have often posed challenges for players due to diplomatic tensions between their respective governments.
Notably, Pakistan and India have not engaged in bilateral series in any format since the 2012-13 season. Pakistan’s last tour to India included the ODI and T20I series, with the two arch-rivals playing a Test match against each other back in 2007.
