Angelina Jolie’s fashion label premiered at the 2024 Oscars, dressing Jon Batiste’s wife for the occasion.
Angelina Jolie’s fashion brand made its first appearance on the red carpet at the Sunday Oscars ceremony. Jolie’s eponymous design house crafted a custom-made gown for writer and journalist Suleika Jaouad, spouse of Grammy winner Jon Batiste.
Crafted from smoky taupe silky pleated fabric, the floor-length gown was tailored to cinch at the waist, gracefully draping over Jaouad’s silhouette. According to Us Weekly, the ensemble featured a captivating attached cape detail and sleeves resembling ocean waves.
Jaouad took to Instagram to express her admiration for Jolie’s design, sharing a post where Jolie was captured adding final touches to the gown.
“Last night’s Oscars was a truly surreal and joyous experience,” Jaouad began. “My gown, crafted by the incomparable Angelina Jolie, featured a mesmerizing painting on silk inspired by American Symphony, skillfully rendered by the talented artist Chaz Guest.”
She went on to express how Jolie’s design made her feel incredibly beautiful and acknowledged that she was deeply moved during their fitting sessions.
The film American Symphony centers around the lives of Batiste, 37, and Jaouad, 35, depicting his journey to compose a symphony amidst the challenging news of Jaouad’s cancer recurrence.
The couple, who first met as teenagers at a music camp, exchanged vows in February 2022 at their Brooklyn home, just before Jaouad underwent a bone marrow transplant.
