On July 20, boxing legend Mike Tyson will square off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a highly anticipated match set to be livestreamed on Netflix, as reported by NBC.
The showdown is slated to take place at the AT&T Stadium, home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, boasting a seating capacity of 80,000.
This event marks Netflix’s foray into sports programming and live entertainment. Recently, the company secured a 10-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), gaining exclusive rights to broadcast its flagship show “RAW” starting January 2025.
In a statement, Tyson, 57, expressed his anticipation for the bout, saying, “I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.”
Tyson, renowned as one of boxing’s finest, clinched the title of youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20.
Meanwhile, Paul embarked on his boxing journey after gaining fame as an internet influencer with a massive following. Reflecting on his rapid rise in the sport, he remarked, “It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons.”
